Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Criticizes Congress President Kharge for Offensive Remarks Against PM Modi

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has vehemently condemned Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a recent political rally in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh, Kharge made a controversial remark questioning if PM Modi had been “sleeping after taking opium” while China “entered” Indian territory. Joshi, expressing his dismay, stated that such language from the president of the Congress party, which prides itself as the Grand Old Party, is utterly condemnable.

Joshi further defended the territorial integrity of India under the BJP’s governance, contrasting it with the loss of 34,000 sq. km of land to China in 1962. He assured that under the current government, India’s borders remain secure, rebutting Kharge’s insinuations about Chinese encroachments. Joshi’s remarks underline the BJP’s stance on national security and territorial sovereignty, emphasizing that not an inch of land has been lost under their watch.

The political back-and-forth comes amid the election season, with Karnataka preparing for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled in two phases on April 26 and May 7. The BJP has fielded Union Minister Pralhad Joshi from Dharwad, amongst other candidates, for the 28 constituencies in Karnataka. This electoral contest follows the 2019 Lok Sabha elections where the BJP secured a significant victory in Karnataka, capturing 25 of the 28 seats, and aims to replicate or improve upon their performance amidst heightened political rhetoric.
