YouTuber Arrested for Faking 24-Hour Airport Stay in Bengaluru

In a recent incident at the Bengaluru airport, a 23-year-old YouTuber, Vikas Gowda, was arrested for allegedly recording a vlog claiming to have stayed inside the airport for 24 hours without being caught. According to the police, Gowda purchased an Air India ticket from Bengaluru to Chennai, entered the airport at 12:06 PM on April 7, and began filming. His video raised questions about the airport’s security, as he suggested that no officials approached or questioned him during his supposed stay.

However, the Bengaluru police have refuted Gowda’s claims, stating that their investigation revealed he only spent four to five hours inside the premises, not 24 hours as he had claimed in his video. The authorities said that Gowda admitted the stunt was intended to garner publicity and increase viewership on his YouTube channel.

Gowda has been charged under section 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code. He was later released on bail and has been summoned for further questioning. This incident highlights the challenges and implications of creating misleading content for social media fame.
