JD(S) Leader HD Revanna Granted Conditional Bail Amid Kidnapping Case Linked to Son’s Abuse Charges
In a recent development, a Bengaluru court granted conditional bail to Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Revanna in a case linked to the alleged kidnapping of a woman, connected to his son Prajwal Revanna’s sexual abuse allegations. The court ordered HD Revanna, a former Karnataka minister and son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, to submit a ₹5 lakh personal bond and adhere to several conditions including cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
The case garnered significant attention as HD Revanna was accused based on a complaint filed on April 29 by the victim’s son. This has further complicated matters for the JD(S), particularly after the State Commission for Women’s chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary’s complaint led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Karnataka government to probe the allegations thoroughly. Additionally, JD(S) leadership has taken strict action by suspending Prajwal Revanna, who faces multiple charges of sexual misconduct and had reportedly fled the country shortly after the allegations surfaced.
Amidst the escalating scandal, Prajwal Revanna, who also represented the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the recent Lok Sabha polls from Hassan, has been implicated in the circulation of explicit videos, leading to further arrests. The political turmoil continues as both the Congress and the BJP-JD(S) are embroiled in a fierce political debate over the handling of the accusations and the broader implications for regional and national political dynamics.
