Swiss Founders Launch Compostable Sneaker Brand After Decades Designing for Global Giants

After years of crafting shoes for industry leaders like Adidas, On Running, and Zara, footwear veterans David Solk and Irmi Kreuzer have unveiled their own brand with a bold mission: creating sneakers that combine comfort, style, and environmental responsibility. Debuting at the Global Fashion Summit, their first model, the ‘Fade 101’, was introduced as a durable yet fully compostable sneaker, designed to leave zero harm behind.

Every element of the Fade 101 — from its chrome-free European leather to its Tencel straps and natural rubber soles — has been selected with sustainability in mind. Even the inner lining is 100 percent bio-based and seamlessly knitted to eliminate textile waste. Solk emphasizes that the brand’s approach centers on creating a shoe that is “ultimately harmless to our environment,” with materials tested for safety and plant compatibility after composting.

The sneakers are produced in the brand’s own factory in Vietnam, allowing full oversight of ethical production and material quality. Once worn out, the shoes can be returned to Solk’s in-house composting system. Available in four earthy tones — Ivory, Black, Sand, and Ember — the Fade 101 is priced at around 250 euros and can be pre-ordered now, with deliveries set for October.
