Borgini Jersey Targets Double-Digit Growth as It Expands in Luxury Fashion
Italian textile manufacturer Borgini Jersey is strengthening its presence in the high-end fashion segment while continuing to expand its established sportswear and beachwear businesses. Founded in 1973 in Cassina Rizzardi, in Italy’s Como silk district, the company specialises in circular knitwear, bonded fabrics and textiles for apparel, athleisure and underwear. With more than 250 standard fabrics per collection and recycled alternatives available for 70% of its polyester articles, Borgini Jersey combines technological innovation with sustainable production. The company recorded a turnover of approximately €14 million in 2025 and expects double-digit growth in 2026.
A key step in its expansion strategy has been the acquisition of Nesatex, a knitted fabrics company based in Carpi, which broadens Borgini Jersey’s expertise across different fabric weights and premium fibres, including cashmere, silk and wool. The integration enables the company to offer an in-house production range spanning 16 to 50 gauge, catering to both performance textiles and luxury fashion. Its Fashion Jersey project, launched in 2022 in partnership with Canclini, has also evolved into a fully family-owned venture, with Mauro Borgini’s daughter, Michela Borgini, taking over Canclini’s stake in 2024. The company employs around 60 people at its headquarters and continues to maintain its sportswear and activewear operations as a core business.
Borgini Jersey currently serves approximately 600 customers, with its 50 largest clients accounting for nearly half of its turnover. Italy remains its primary market, contributing more than 30% of revenue, while the United States, Germany, South Korea and France offer significant growth opportunities. The company is also witnessing increasing demand from Northern Europe and Scandinavia for sustainable and certified recycled textiles. While e-commerce is not a strategic priority for its business-to-business model, the company is increasingly using social media to improve brand visibility and engagement as it strengthens its position in the premium textile market.
