Allu Arjun Faces Backlash Over Stampede Incident at ‘Pushpa 2’ Premiere
Hyderabad Police and actor Allu Arjun are embroiled in controversy following a tragic stampede outside Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2. A 35-year-old woman lost her life, and her son remains critical. Police allege they informed Arjun about the chaos and requested him to leave, but the actor purportedly stayed to watch the film. Arjun, however, denied the claim in a press conference, calling accusations against him, including those by MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, a “character assassination.”
The incident escalated when Osmania University’s Joint Action Committee members vandalized Arjun’s Jubilee Hills residence, demanding ₹1 crore in compensation for the victim’s family. Police have arrested six individuals involved. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condemned the vandalism, assuring strict action and emphasizing that law and order lapses would not be tolerated. Meanwhile, Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind, urged calm, stating it was not the time to react.
Arjun was arrested on December 13, nine days after the stampede. Though a local court remanded him to 14-day custody, the Telangana High Court granted him four-week interim bail on the same day. Visuals of the actor celebrating his release have sparked mixed reactions online, intensifying public scrutiny over the actor’s actions during and after the tragedy.
