Chanel Overtakes Louis Vuitton to Become World’s Most Valuable Apparel Brand in 2025
French luxury house Chanel has claimed the top spot in Brand Finance’s 2025 ranking of the world’s most valuable apparel brands, surpassing Louis Vuitton and Nike. Under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, Chanel recorded a remarkable 40% surge in brand value, reaching $37.9 billion (€34 billion). This marks a major milestone for the heritage label, which now leads the global fashion industry in value and influence.
According to Brand Finance, the combined value of the top 50 apparel brands rose to over $366 billion this year, with French labels contributing the largest share at $135.6 billion. Dior, positioned eighth, saw its brand value increase by 13% to $17.3 billion, while Cartier rose to ninth with $15.7 billion, up 11%. The strong performance of French brands highlights the country’s dominance in the luxury sector.
Meanwhile, Nike retained its reputation as the strongest apparel brand worldwide, earning a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 94.7 out of 100, placing it second globally across all sectors behind China’s WeChat. Levi’s and Dior followed Nike in the strength ranking, with Brand Finance noting Nike’s exceptional consumer acceptance on pricing across multiple international markets. This underscores the sportswear giant’s enduring global appeal, even as luxury houses like Chanel set new records in brand valuation.
