Gagan Narang Praises India’s Paralympians for Record Medal Haul
London Games bronze medallist and India’s Chef de Mission for the upcoming Paris Olympics, Gagan Narang, lauded the country’s para-athletes for their outstanding performance at the ongoing Paralympics. With a record-breaking tally of 25 medals—comprising 5 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze—India currently stands 16th on the medal table, surpassing its previous record from the Tokyo Paralympics. Narang expressed his pride in the team’s achievements, highlighting the remarkable progress of the nation’s para-athletes.
Speaking at a photo exhibition event hosted by the Media Photojournalist Trust at the Press Club of India, Narang mentioned that he has yet to analyze the Paris Olympic Games but emphasized that the focus should be on celebrating the success of the Paralympians. “A fantastic effort by our Paralympians. They surpassed the Tokyo Paralympics medal tally, looking forward for more medals,” Narang said, acknowledging the importance of the ongoing competition.
In addition to his comments on sports, Narang shared his passion for photography during the event. He praised the exhibition, noting the irreplaceable role of photographers in journalism. “Fantastic exhibition indeed, photographers are lifeline of journalism. They give us a perspective and no AI can replace them,” Narang added, encouraging continued support for such events in the future.
