Hyderabad Industrialist Stabbed to Death by Grandson Over Property Dispute

Hyderabad police have reported the brutal murder of 86-year-old industrialist Velamati Chandrasekhara Janardhana Rao, chairman of Veljan Group, who was stabbed 70 times by his grandson, Kilaru Keerthi Teja, following a heated argument over property distribution. The incident occurred at Rao’s residence when Teja confronted him about alleged unfair asset division.
Teja, 29, had reportedly received Rs 4 crore as his share of the ancestral property. During the altercation, Teja’s mother, Sarojini Devi, attempted to intervene but sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Teja, who had recently returned to Hyderabad after completing a master’s degree in the United States, was visiting Rao with his mother when the dispute turned fatal.
Rao was a prominent figure in the industrial sector, contributing to shipbuilding, energy, and industrial applications. Teja has been arrested, and further investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
