Lalu Prasad, Sons Granted Bail in Land-for-Jobs Case
A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his sons, Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav, in the high-profile land-for-jobs case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne at the Rouse Avenue Court granted the bail, with each required to furnish a personal bond of ₹1 lakh. The court noted that they had not been arrested during the investigation phase.
The case, dating back to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, involves alleged irregularities in Group-D railway appointments. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims land parcels were gifted or transferred to Yadav’s family members and associates in exchange for jobs in the West Central Railway Zone, Jabalpur. This case stems from an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Following the court’s decision, Tejashwi Yadav criticized the case as a politically motivated conspiracy, stating that victory was inevitable. The next hearing is scheduled for October 25.
