Prithvi Shaw’s Struggles Continue as Delhi Capitals Gear Up for Crucial IPL Clash

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Delhi Capitals’ opener Prithvi Shaw’s form remains a concern as the team prepares for their crucial upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 12. Shaw, who had a disappointing season last year, has not shown significant improvement, managing only 198 runs in 8 matches with a strike rate of 163.64. Despite his high strike rate, Shaw’s inconsistency saw him benched during the Capitals’ recent victory over Rajasthan Royals.

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram commented on Shaw’s struggles, emphasizing the need for the young batsman to return to basics and focus more on cricket away from distractions. Akram suggested that Shaw should spend more time playing first-class cricket to regain his form and confidence. “He has still got plenty of cricket in him, just go back and play first-class cricket. Get a lot of centuries and make a comeback. That’s the only way. There’s no shortcut,” Akram advised during an interview with Sportskeeda.

As Delhi Capitals continue their bid for a playoff spot, the focus on Shaw intensifies, underscoring the need for him to stabilize his performances and potentially secure his place in future national team selections. With just two games left in the league phase, the Capitals’ success could hinge on key players like Shaw finding form at this critical juncture of the IPL season.
