Rahul Gandhi Sparks Heated Debate in Lok Sabha Over Modi’s Invite to Trump and China Border Issue

The Lok Sabha witnessed fiery exchanges as Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over an alleged invitation campaign for Donald Trump’s swearing-in and raised concerns about Chinese intrusion in Ladakh. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju objected, demanding evidence for Gandhi’s claims regarding Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s visits to the US. Gandhi also took a jab at the government’s manufacturing policies, blaming their failure for India’s economic vulnerabilities.

Gandhi accused the Modi government of misleading the country on the China issue, asserting that “the Chinese are sitting on 4,000 sq km of our territory.” He linked China’s strategic advantage to the failure of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, claiming that India was unprepared to face competition in electric motors, batteries, and optics. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanded evidence for his statements, further intensifying the debate.

The Congress leader’s remarks on caste representation also stirred protests. Gandhi claimed that Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs lacked significant corporate ownership despite being a large portion of the population, citing Telangana’s caste census report as evidence. BJP MPs countered his remarks, pointing out that PM Modi himself belongs to the OBC category, with Rijiju accusing Gandhi of ignoring the Prime Minister’s achievements.
