SC orders BCCI to re-examine the quantum of punishment given to former Cricketer Sreesanth
The Supreme Court of India has order the Board of Control for Cricket in India to re-examine the quantum of punishment given to former Cricketer Sreesanth in connection with a spot-fixing scandal emerged during the 2013 Indian Premier League, acknowledging that the life ban given to the cricketer was too harsh.
The court has given three months for the BCCI to do what the court has asked them to do through its latest order.
Meanwhile, the court has refused to revoke the charges registered against him in connection with the scandal.
Moreover, the court has clarified that the latest order shall not have any effect on the criminal proceedings pending against the cricketer-turned-actor.
It is senior advocate Salman Khurshid who has appeared in the top court of the country for the cricketer.
The lawyer has strongly questioned the manner in which the Delhi Police has handled the case. He has brought to the notice of the court that his client was treated inappropriately by the Delhi Police.
The latest development is regarded as the victory of the cricketer, who is very eager to re-enter to his favourite profession.
Anyway, it is little possibility for the BCCI to allow the cricketer to re-enter his profession before the criminal proceedings pending against the star bowler is over.
However, the SC verdict proves that a fragile ray of hope is still left before the former cricketer, who recently tried his luck in politics also.
