Son of Shiv Sena Leader Arrested After BMW Hit-and-Run Incident in Mumbai

Mihir Shah, the son of a Shiv Sena leader, was arrested in Shahpur, Maharashtra after evading authorities for three days following a hit-and-run incident. The accident occurred on Sunday morning when a BMW, allegedly driven by Shah, struck a two-wheeler on Annie Besant Road, killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa and injuring her husband, Pradeep.

Kaveri Nakhwa was dragged for 100 meters by the car, leading to severe injuries that resulted in her death upon arrival at the hospital. Her husband, Pradeep, received treatment and was later discharged. The police have registered a case against Mihir Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, and their family driver, Rajendra Singh Bidawat, for aiding Mihir in fleeing. Bidawat has been remanded to police custody until July 11, while Rajesh Shah secured bail on Monday.

Initial investigations suggest that Mihir Shah, 23, was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, and authorities plan to conduct medical tests to determine if he was under the influence. The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Motor Vehicle Act and BNS provisions, based on Pradeep Nakhwa’s statement.
