BJP MLA Nitesh Rane Summoned by Mumbai Police in Disha Salian Case
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nitesh Rane has been issued a notice by the Mumbai Police to appear for questioning on June 12 in connection with the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was found dead on June 14, 2020, just days before Rajput’s demise. Rane, who has consistently alleged foul play and termed Salian’s death a murder, expressed readiness to cooperate with authorities.
Rane’s summons follows his claims implicating a Shiv Sena leader in Salian’s death and his criticism of the police investigation. In December last year, Rane accused senior inspector Chimaji Aadhav of mishandling the case and petitioned for his removal. However, police clarified that Aadhav was not stationed at Malwani police station during the initial investigation period.
The Mumbai Police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to reinvestigate Salian’s death following public and political pressure. Despite initial conclusions of suicide, questions surrounding the circumstances of Salian’s death persist, prompting renewed scrutiny and political controversy.
Rane’s statement upon receiving the summons reiterated his stance on the case, alleging a cover-up by the ruling Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to shield prominent figures. The developments are set against ongoing public interest and scrutiny, underscoring persistent demands for transparency in high-profile cases.
