Honoring the legendary Maratha empire founder, PM Modi highlighted Shivaji Maharaj’s maritime legacy, acknowledging his construction of numerous coastal and sea forts, including the iconic Sindhudurg Fort. Notably, the unveiling coincided with the recognition of Shivaji Maharaj’s seal as an inspiration for India’s new naval ensign, adopted last year during the commissioning of the indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.

In a commemorative gesture, PM Modi paid homage to the profound maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, emphasizing the historical significance of his strategic forts dotting the coastline. The choice of Rajkot Fort as the site for the statue’s unveiling held symbolic importance, as it echoed Shivaji Maharaj’s vision and valor, shaping India’s maritime prowess. Furthermore, the unveiling event served as a poignant reminder of the seamless integration of Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy with contemporary naval milestones, notably marked by the adoption of his seal as a symbol for India’s naval fleet.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi is slated to witness a demonstration by the Indian Navy, coinciding with Navy Day celebrations.
