5 Elephants Brought To Madhya Pradesh Tiger Reserve From Karnataka

An official announced on Monday that five elephants had been transported from Karnataka to the Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Madhya Pradesh for the purpose of tiger protection. To protect the tigers, the jumbos are tasked with patrolling the forest areas.

According to PTR deputy director Rajneesh Singh, the five elephants began their journey via road in trucks on December 22 from Dubare Elephant Camp in Coorg, Karnataka, under the supervision of the Satpura Tiger Reserve’s employees. On Sunday, after passing via Nagpur, they arrived at the Kurai Mowgli Sanctuary of PTR, he claimed.

The official claimed that a truck was also used to convey their food supplies. According to him, the five elephants—named General Cariappa, General Thimayya, both 8 years old, Bali (40), Lava (21) and Maruti (20)—were being cared for by the forest workers.

According to the source, the PTR currently owns five elephants, including Saraswati, the oldest of them all whose stint in service has come to an end. Tiger reserves may be found in Madhya Pradesh in places like Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Satpura, Pench, Panna, and Sanjay-Dubri.
