Kerala Fashion Influencer Reshma Sebastian Clarifies Misidentification with Army Captain’s Widow

Popular fashion influencer Reshma Sebastian took to Instagram on Sunday to address a case of mistaken identity that has led to online trolling. Clarifying that she is not Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, Sebastian urged the public to verify profile details before spreading misinformation. This clarification comes after Sebastian faced vicious trolling on social media, with her fashion posts being mistaken as those of Smriti Singh.

Sebastian, who resides in Germany with her family but is currently visiting Kerala, shared a screenshot of a man’s Facebook post where her photo was misused. She expressed frustration over her identity being exploited to spread false information and announced plans to take legal action against those responsible for the defamatory content. “Using my identity to spread false information about Smriti Singh is absurd. We are going ahead with legal actions,” she declared.

Captain Anshuman Singh was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously for his bravery in rescuing people from a major fire last year. The medal was received by his widow Smriti Singh and his mother, Manju Singh, during an investiture ceremony. However, in a recent development, Captain Singh’s parents alleged that their daughter-in-law has taken the medal with her after moving away from the family, expressing their distress over the situation.
