Wedding Called Off In Uttarakhand After Bride Objects To “Cheap” Attire Sent By Groom’s Family

Indian weddings are lavish events. Everything in the extravaganza is yours to enjoy, including the food and rituals. According to a Times of India report, a woman from Haldwani in Uttarakhand unexpectedly called off her wedding after the groom’s family delivered her a ‘cheap’ lehenga.

The outlet added that the woman and her Almora-based fiancé had broken up just days before the wedding because the groom’s father had sent his future daughter-in-law a lehenga that cost 10,000. According to the report, she didn’t like the clothes because they were cheap and of poor quality. The pair proposed in June of this year, and their November 5 wedding date was established.

Both families approached the police as the situation got worse, according to India Today. They were able to be calmed down and sent home by the authorities at Kotwali police station. However, the bridegroom’s family brought up the subject once more, claiming that the wedding invitation cards had already been printed. Following this, a solution was reached and the wedding was called off with the assistance of the police once more.

When it comes to weddings and strange occurrences, a Pakistani groom donned a garland fashioned out of bills a few months ago. However, the garland was so large that the groom needed the assistance of his friends to keep it in place on the wedding platform. The enormous garland was hiding at least six individuals, including the bride and groom.

This tradition is very prevalent not only in Pakistan but also in some regions of north India. However, the Reserve Bank of India issued a warning and a statement warning people not to misuse bank notes because they are a symbol of the sovereign and should be respected.
