AAP Alleges BJP Candidate Parvesh Verma of MCC Violation; Probe Ordered

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused BJP candidate Parvesh Verma of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by distributing ₹1,100 in cash and organizing job camps under the “Har Ghar Naukari” campaign. AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal demanded Verma’s disqualification and a raid on his residence, citing these actions as corrupt practices under the Representation of People Act. The New Delhi district election officer (DEO) has referred the complaints to the police for further investigation.

In an action-taken report, the DEO stated that no evidence of job camps or pamphlets was found by flying squads during field inspections. Additionally, instructions were issued to prevent any such events on January 15. Kejriwal also alleged collusion between local election officials and the BJP, accusing them of facilitating voter roll tampering, which was denied by poll authorities.

The Election Commission assured strict action against MCC violations while rejecting claims of arbitrary voter deletions in the New Delhi constituency. The DEO confirmed that preventive measures were in place, clarifying that allegations of illegal additions or deletions of names were unfounded. Investigations into the AAP’s allegations are ongoing.
