Goa Tragedy: Tech CEO Charged with Murder of 4-Year-Old Son
In a shocking incident that has gripped Goa, Suchana Seth, a Bengaluru-based CEO, has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old son in a hotel in North Goa’s Candolim. According to the detailed 642-page chargesheet filed by Goa Police at the Children’s Court in Panaji, the child’s death resulted from “shock and respiratory asphyxia” due to “strangulation,” with no common poisons found in his body. The investigation, which examined 59 witnesses, accuses Suchana of being “sharp in mind and capable of misleading the investigation.”
The tragedy unfolded in January when Suchana and her son checked into Hotel Sol Banyan Grande, only for the visit to end horrifically with the child’s body being discovered in a bag as Suchana attempted to flee. The case has taken a darker turn with the revelation of a contentious custody battle between Suchana and her estranged husband, Venkatraman P R. The police chargesheet reveals a complex background of divorce, custody battles, and prohibited access, raising questions about the motive behind the tragic act.
Central to the police’s case is a note found with the body, where Suchana claims her son did not want to return to his father, painting a picture of desperation and fear. However, Venkatraman’s lawyer dismisses these claims as baseless attempts to divert attention from Suchana’s alleged crimes. As the community reels from this devastating incident, the charges against Suchana Seth under sections 302 and 201 of the IPC, and section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, highlight the tragic intersection of personal turmoil and criminal actions.
